As we roll into November, I’m sure I’m not alone when I say all I can think of is Thanksgiving. The delicious food and traditions are not the only part of Thanksgiving that come to mind. Every year in November, I realize just how lucky I am to have the resources I do. I am lucky enough to have a family, a home, and food on the table to celebrate the holidays with. However, there are many individuals that are not as lucky as I am. For the month of November, I am dedicating most of our blog posts to highlighting local charities that will help members of our community who need support and compassion. This week, I have created a list of four excellent charities to donate your used clothes to as you clean out your closet this year.
Safe Harbor Resale Shop
Safe Harbor is an amazing charity in the Greenville area that focuses on providing resources for victims of domestic violence. They have a resale shop that their clients can shop at free of charge for themselves and their children. Anyone else can shop there and have the proceeds of their purchase go directly to funding Safe Harbor’s other services including emergency housing, counseling, advocacy, and more.
Red Ribbon Resale
Red Ribbon Resale pride themselves on the resale of gently used, high quality goods. Proceeds support the mission of AID Upstate by providing financial support to help meet the service and prevention needs of people affected by HIV in our community. This is a great place to donate used clothing or even furniture.
Goodwill Drop Off
Of course we couldn’t create a clothing donation list without including Goodwill. There are many Goodwill locations in Greenville, so you’re bound to have one close to you. Goodwill consistently provides affordable clothing, furniture, and other home items to all communities they serve. They hope to provide opportunities for all individuals in a given community. I will always recommend Goodwill when people are looking for a place to donate used clothing.
Miracle Hill Thrift Store
Miracle Hill is a religious charity that aims to provide food, shelter, and clothing to those experiencing homelessness in the Greenville area. Donating your clothes here is a great way to help provide affordable clothing to individuals in need.
